Creative Thinking for the Future

Unveiling the Future of Arts: Industry Reference Group Meeting at South Regional TAFE’s Denmark Campus

In the heart of the Great Southern region of Western Australia, in a landscape rich with artistic inspiration, the Denmark Campus of South Regional TAFE is exploring how to build the arts community through the delivery of a Certificate Three in Visual Arts. The recent industry reference group meeting saw educators, artists, and industry experts come together to envision the future of the arts in the region.

A Rich Heritage in Arts Education

The proposed Certificate Three in Visual Arts doesn't emerge out of thin air. It stands tall on the foundation of a long and storied history of arts education within the region. The arts have not only been a part of the curriculum but have also been instrumental in fostering a vibrant professional arts community. The meeting aimed to build upon this legacy, taking it to new heights.

Leading this charge was Nikki Green, a passionate lecturer and the driving force behind this innovative program. Recognizing the need for industry feedback, Nikki orchestrated this meeting to understand the perspectives of stakeholders and explore the myriad opportunities and pathways this qualification could open for prospective artists and employees.

Diving Deep into the Future of Arts

The Industry Reference Group meeting wasn’t just another gathering; it was a deep dive into the future of the arts in the Great Southern region. For two intensive hours, participants engaged in insightful discussions, exploring the vital role arts education plays in nurturing creative thinking and diverse perspectives.

The conversations ranged from the technical aspects of the curriculum to the broader impact this education could have on the community. The future employability of the students, the cultural enrichment of the region, and the potential to cultivate a new generation of innovative artists were key topics of discussion.
